JCC seeks better coordination and cooperation with local NGOs and Civil Societies in Kurdistan Region

The Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) held a  coordination meeting with the local NGOs and civil society in Kurdistan to discuss the ways to establish a better and stronger coordination and cooperation to face the current humanitarian challenges and the role of the local NGOs in the response, priorities identification.

 

Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the JCC, chaired the meeting and he stated that JCC highly appreciates the role of the local NGOs in supporting government efforts in response to the current humanitarian crisis and highlighted the importance of better coordination and cooperation between local NGOs and civil society in Kurdistan Region. He warmly welcomed the initiative by several NGOs to establish Kurdistan NGOs Coordination Committee to coordinate and facilitate the work of the NGOs with the JCC and other government institutions.

 

The meeting focused on the current issues and challenges facing the process of delivering humanitarian assistance and providing more services to the IDPs and refugees and host communities in the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting ended with several recommendations to be taken by the JCC and the NGOs to address the outstanding challenges and issues highlighted in the meeting.

 

In concluding remarks, Mr. Hoshang Mohammed, the Director General of the JCC again welcomed the representatives of the NGOs and on behalf of Ministry of Interior extended thanks and appreciation for their role and contribution to support and help the displaced people and the host communities in the Kurdistan Region. He reiterated the JCC’s readiness to support for NGOs and to support the initiative for better coordination and cooperation.
