On Tuesday, April 16, The Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), Hoshang Mohamad, received a Dutch delegation headed by Janet Albera, Consul General of Netherlands in the Kurdistan Region and accompanied by Ms. Simone Segovia van der Post, Desk Officer for Iraq and Ms. Nona de Jonge, Desk Officer in Stabilization Department at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the meeting, both sides discussed the needs of the Internally Displaced People (IDPs), refugees and the host community in the Kurdistan Region and particularly creating job opportunities for them as well as strengthening the capacity-building for the vulnerable people in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Mr. Mohamed and Ms. Albera discussed the role of the international community, Netherlands’ role in particular, in supporting the Kurdistan Region not only in terms of financial aid but also technical support and bringing experts to deal with the post-ISIS humanitarian process efficiently.
The meeting reiterated on the importance of having a comprehensive policy or plan by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Iraqi Federal Government and the governorates for the process of reconciliation, reconstruction helping the IDPs and supporting their return.
In addition, both sides discussed strengthening institutional capacity to prevent other crises from taking place through having a strong foundation for crisis response and management.
The Dutch delegation expressed readiness for continued cooperation with the KRG and provide assistance for the vulnerable people to the host communities and IDPs and support their return to the liberated areas.
