JCC Director General welcomes the new head of ECHO office in Erbil

On June 24, 2019, Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) received a delegation from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) composed of Mr. Luigi Pandolfi, the outgoing head of Erbil office, Ms. Valentina De Bernardi, the Regional Director of ECHO, Mr. Christophe Reltien, the newly appointed head of ECHO’s Office in Erbil and Ms. Khanda Zrar, coordinator at the Office.

Mr. Hoshang warmly welcomed Mr. Christophe Reltien, the newly appointed head of Office and extended thanks and appreciation to Mr. Luigi Pandolfi, the outgoing head of office for his good cooperation and coordination with JCC during his term.

Mr. Hoshang stated that JCC will continue supporting the partners, including the ECHO and will continue to strengthening the already existing cooperation. He extended JCC’s thanks for the EU’s continued support, particularly ECHO’s continued efforts and assistance to alleviating the suffering of the displaced people and responding to the humanitarian crisis in the Kurdistan Region.  

Then, both sides discussed the current humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region and ways of improving cooperation between both sides to ensure effective assistance delivery to the vulnerable people. The main obstacles in front of the return of the IDPs their place of origin also discussed. 

From his side, Mr. Luigi Pandolfi, the outgoing head of ECHO’s office, commended the great cooperation between his office and JCC since they started work in the Kurdistan Region, hoped that this cooperation can be maintained.
