JCC Director General discuss humanitarian situation of IDPs and influx of refugees to Kurdistan with Swedish Embassy delegation

On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) received H.E. Lennart Linner, Deputy Head of Mission of Sweden in Baghdad, Mr. Christopher Burnett- Cargill, Councilor of Development Cooperation and Mr.  Botan Saleh, Head of Erbil Office of the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad.  

Mr. Hoshang warmly welcomed the delegation and extended his thanks and appreciation for the Swedish government, and Swedish people for the continued support that SIDA has provided to JCC through Swedish Civil Contingency Agencies (MSB) as one the JCC’s key partners since its inception in 2014. He also appreciated the Swedish recent governments dictions to allocate 10 million euro to help the Syrian IDPs and refugees in Syria and Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Then, Mr. Hoshang briefed the delegation about the new developments in Syrian and its impact and consequences for the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, especially the influx of the Syrian refugees to Kurdistan Region who are fleeing for their safety and also the current humanitarian situation of the IDPs and refugees host in Kurdistan.

In a meeting, both sides discussed the humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region and northern Syria (Rojava) and the latest developments in Iraq and Syria and exchanged views on ways to support the IDPs and refugees. They also agreed to continue their cooperation and discussions in the future.
