UK delegation visits JCC, discuss humanitarian situation

On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, the UK Consul General in Erbil Mr. James Thornton and Head of Iraq Team at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Mr. Ayaaz Nawab paid a visit to the JCC and they were received by Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, the Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC).

In a meeting both sides discussed the humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region and the developments in Northern Syria and the impact and consequences for the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.   

JCC Director General, Hoshang Mohamed, briefed the delegation about the humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region, particularly the arrival of Syrian refugees to the Region. He also talked about the JCC contingency plan to respond to the current humanitarian situation.    

Mr. Hoshang extended thanks and appreciation for the UK’s continued support to the Kurdistan Region, stating that the UK was played a key role in supporting JCC with providing technical and financial assistance.  

The UK delegation said that they are grateful for the deep partnership with the Kurdistan Region and they will continue working on deepening and strengthening bilateral ties.
