JCC Director General receives a Swedish Embassy and SIDA delegation

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) received a Swedish delegation headed by Mr. Christoffer Bunnette-corgill, Councilor for cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in Baghdad and accompanied by Mr. Oscar Idman, Programme Manager of MENA unit at Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Mr. Anders Ohrstrom, Analyst at SIDA’s MENA unit. 

Both sides discussed the current humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region and the influx of Syrian refugees to the Region and reverse internal displacement. They also discussed the ways of improving cooperation as well as the activities of the JCC in responding to the humanitarian crisis since its establishment.

Mr. Hoshang extended thanks and appreciation to the Swedish government for the continued support that SIDA has been providing through Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) to JCC which has been key and critical in the institution’s development since its establishment in 2014.

Director General briefed the Swedish delegation about the developments that have been made to strengthen JCC’s capacity to respond to the natural and man-made crises in the Kurdistan Region, stating that a strategy was developed in 2017 to strengthen the JCC crisis management capacity. He also highlighted the good cooperation between JCC and MSB, stated that MSB has actively supported JCC technically since 2014 to build the institutional capacity and several projects have been completed successfully and we are working to develop a long term plan for our cooperation.

The Swedish delegation reiterated their commitment for a long-term support and cooperation with the JCC and reiterated that they will continue to provide support.
