Today, Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the JCC, welcomed Ms. Serena Muroni, the Italian Consul General in Erbil, and Mr. Daniele Ravaioli, Program Manager at the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation to discuss the current humanitarian crisis and priorities for the displaced people and the people who severely affected by the earthquake hit the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on 12 November 2017.
Mr. Hoshang briefed the delegation about the gaps and priority needs including winterization and medical equipment and the difficult situation the IDPs face, especially those who displaced from Kirkuk, Khurmatu and other areas.
Ms. Serena highlighted the good cooperation between JCC and the Italian Consulate for supporting the IDPs and affected people and she states that they have allocated additional funds to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced people and also the families who severely affected by the earthquake.
On behalf of the KRG’s Ministry of Interior’s Joint Crisis Coordination Centre, Mr. Hoshang extended thanks and appreciation for Ms. Serena’s outstanding role and cooperation and Italy’s continued humanitarian assistance to support the efforts of the KRG to alleviate the suffering of the displaced people and especially, the Italy’s immediate response to the earthquake disaster.
Both agreed that a list of the most priority needs be submitted to the Italy’s Consulate General so that they use the allocated fund for filling these needs.
