JCC Director General, new GIZ QUDRA Programme Module Team Leader discuss second phase of the programme

On Sunday July 21, 2019, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, welcomed the new GIZ QUDRA Programme Module Team Leader Mr. Frieda Pommerehne.

Mr. Hoshang extended thanks and appreciation to Ms. Jenny, the outgoing Module Team Leader of the program for her services and cooperation in the past years. He also stressed on the importance of QUDRA Programme for both the displaced people and the host community in the Kurdistan Region. Both sides discussed the ways and mechanisms to strengthen the processes for implementing the second phase of the programme.

In the first phase of QUDRA Programme 58 projects were implemented, benefitting over 700,000 people including the Internally Displaced People (IDPs), the Syrian refugees and host communities in the Region.

The Qudra Programme is a regional project, financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (the 'Madad' Fund) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), seeking to strengthen resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi crises. The programme is jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Expertise France (EF), Spanish Agency for International Development (AECID) and Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) in programme partner countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Together, they are providing support through QUDRA, an Arabic word meaning ‘strength, ‘ability’ or ‘resilience.’
