On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, received Mr. Choi Kwang-Jin, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea at the JCC headquarters in Erbil.
Mr. Choi, the Korean Consul General announced that the Korean government has decided to allocate 10 million USD through the UN agencies for the humanitarian response and additionally, 300,000 USD directly to JCC to implement one of the most priority humanitarian project for the IDPs and refugees in Kurdistan.
The JCC Director General, Hoshang Mohamed extended thanks and appreciation to Mr. Choi and the government of the Republic of Korea for their generous contribution and continued support for the displaced people, refugees and the host community in the Kurdistan Region since the humanitarian crisis outbreak in 2014.
Mr. Hoshang, JCC Director General also briefed Mr. Choi about the current humanitarian situation, the new waves of the Syrian refugees, needs and priorities, and JCC’s plans to provide assistance to the IDPs, and refugees.
Then, both sides agreed on a mechanism to jointly select a priority project and implement the it to support one of the camps of the displaced people in Kurdistan Region.
