On Monday, January 20, 2020, H.E. Reber Ahmed, Minister of Interior received Mr. Choi Kwang Chin, Consul General of the Korean Republic in the Kurdistan Region, in attendance were Mr. Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC).
In the meeting, both sides discussed the recent developments and the current humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region. Then in a ceremony, they signed a 300,000 USD-worth protocol of humanitarian assistance to provide humanitarian, live-saving assistance by the Korean Republic to the IDPs and refugees in the Kurdistan Region.
Minister of Interior on behalf of the people and government of the Kurdistan region extended thanks and appreciation to the government of Korean Republic for their continued assistance to the Kurdistan Region and stressed that the humanitarian assistance are very much needed and will be a valuable assistance for the IDPs and refugees in the Kurdistan Region especially during this cold season.
The humanitarian assistance will be provided to the IDPs and refugees by Ministry of Interior’s the Joint Crisis Coordination Center in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Korean Republic.
The humanitarian assistance provided by the Korean Republic is worth 300,000 million. The Korean Republic annually provides such humanitarian assistance as a support for the KRG’s efforts in helping the IDPs and refugees hosted in the Region.
