More direct and humanitarian assistance need to enable KRG to make proper preparedness for the expected waves of displacement

Ms. Barbara Lochbihler, the Foreign Affairs and Human Rights spokesperson of the Greens/European Free Alliance visited the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) and received by Hoshang Mohamed, Director General of the JCC.

In a meeting held at the JCC HQ both sides discussed important matters related to the humanitarian situation and the influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to the Kurdistan Region as a consequence of the free Mosul Military operations.

They also discussed the preparedness by and the capabilities of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the response strategy to the humanitarian crisis and the coordination between the partners in the government and the international community.  

Ms. Barbara’s visit to the JCC was to be more familiar with the humanitarian situation, IDPs humanitarian needs and the preparations of the KRG’s response to the current humanitarian crisis.

The JCC Director General requested more direct and humanitarian assistance to the KRG as well as providing more financial and technical support, to enable KRG to make proper preparedness for the expected waves of displacement to the Kurdistan Region.
