On Wednesday, 1st March 2017, Danish Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Gert Meinecke received by Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre, Hoshang Mohamed at JCC headquarter in Erbil.
In their meeting, the latest development and recent progress of Kurdistan Region and Iraq have been discussed. The JCC Director General talked in detail about the displacement issue and the humanitarian crisis in Kurdistan Region as well as the recent arrival of IDP influx to the Region. Additionally, KRGs’ ability to respond to the crisis and the heavy burden on the relevant authorities were also discussed, particularly as the KRG faces difficult financial crisis, and the huge impact on various sectors resulted from massive IDP numbers across the Region.
The Director General highlighted the key issues surrounding return and stabilization process and explained the current approach as well as the ways for improvement and long term suitable peace.
The JCC Director General called for more cooperation and coordination from Danish Government and the International Community in supporting KRG across various sectors such as public services, health, water, electricity, education and the renovation of the liberated areas.
In conclusion, Danish Ambassador thanked the KRG and expressed his country’s will for continuous support and full coordination with KRG, taking into consideration the recommendations made by the JCC in relation to the Danish humanitarian assistance for Iraq in the future.
