The meeting in which attended by Mr. Karwan Jamal; the KRG’s representative in the UK and Mr. Hoshang Mohamed; the Director General of JCC, discussed the humanitarian situation of IDPs and refugees in Kurdistan Region, especially ongoing displacement in Mosul and the IDPs needs as well as preparedness for the ISIS- aftermath.
Mr. Sinjari highlighted the current situation of Mosul IDPs in Kurdistan Region, the security escalation and the latest developments of the war against ISIS. He also explained the challenges of the IDPs’ return process, rehabilitation and reconstruction in the liberated areas, additionally; Minister Sinjari made several recommendations for the British government as way forward to ensure successful stabilization process to support all affected people and areas equally and fairly in the liberated areas.
On the other hand, Mr. Ellwood extended his governments appreciation for the effective role of KRG in assisting IDPs and refugees, he also stressed on the commitment of UK government in continuing their support and assistance. He stated that, the purpose of their visit is putting a long term plan for the stabilization and rehabilitation processes after-ISIS. Mr. Ellwood thanked Mr. Sinjari for the recommendation, said that he shares the points and added that they will consider them seriously.
