As highlighted, the displacement continued throughout the 2019 and still people are compelled to leave their areas for security, livelihood, and economic reasons and come to the Kurdistan, in March 2019, as many as 946 IDPs and refugees entered the Kurdistan Region. Nearly 932 of them were IDPs and 14 were Syrian refugees. Additionally, up to 941 internally displaced persons and Syrian refugees have left the Kurdistan Region in March 2019; either returning to their places of origin in the liberated areas or migrated to Europe and other countries legally and through other means. The workshop aimed to prepare airports personnel to handle the logistical situations in post-disasters. The five-day workshop provided training to 30 staff from Erbil and Slemani International airports and employees from relevant government agencies. The attendees jointly identified the areas that could potentially serve as key locations for disaster logistics operations in the two airports, the workshop also evaluated the airports’ capacities for processing high volumes of passengers, cargos and warehousing relief supplies.
